Term 3 2016

Term Three in Music is all about UKULELE and DANCE! We will focus on tempo and dynamics as we learn strumming patterns and chords. Our aim will be to enjoy playing and singing some simple songs together and we have some great resources thanks to the amazing Jeremy Hantler from Edendale Primary. We will use half of our Music time to get moving and explore some different dance styles. Considering how to use our bodies, spaces, time, and energy will be our basis as we learn and create dances. 

We will begin the term by finishing some marimba/tuned percussion activities as students have asked for the opportunity to do the things we ran out of time for due to Arts Festival practices. I am so happy they have been so dedicated to their pitch and tone colour learning!

How lucky we were to have a visit from this amazing musician, performer, and teacher - I think the children could have spent another hour drumming with him, I know I could have. A brilliant experience!

No One in the House but Room 4

Towards the end of their Music time this week Room 4 had some fun learning the American folk song No One in the House but Dinah. We started putting Room 4 names in place of Dinah depending on who had the ball. We added the challenge of keeping the beat with a series of actions while singing.

Room 10 Take On the Hot Cross Buns Marimba Arrangement

I am noticing a bit of competition between Room 10 and 11 during Music time. This week Room 10 were determined to practise their Hot Cross Buns marimba arrangement until they got the sound they were after. They wanted all three of the their videos uploaded as they swapped over playing some of the parts.
