Learning our bordun for our arrangement and playing it in time.
Room 2
This week Room 2 listened to Royal March of the Lion from Camille Saint-Saens and coloured a picture of a lion based on some of the elements of music they could hear.
Room 9
We have been learning a rhythm piece called Bento Box and we have been playing this on a variety of drums. Today we changed to tuned percussion and used the rhythm we know so well to improvise our own melody in the C major pentatonic scale.
Room 6
We have been learning the song "I've Got a Rhythm" and now that we know it well we have been trying to figure out the melody on tuned percussion by listening.
Room 1
Play the rhythm of your bar of Flying Man at the correct time. When we know the rhythm well we will begin to learn the melody and prepare to play as an arrangement.
Room 7
To begin learning our Orff arrangement we have been singing a song in which we take turns showing an action for 4 bars of 4 beats for the class to copy. This will turn into improvising a rhythm, using body percussion then instruments, for 4 bars of 4 beats to prepare for solos during the arrangement on tuned and untuned percussion.
Term 1 2018
This term Piwakawaka, Tui, and Kereru teams will be learning and extending their understanding of Orff performance using a range of tuned and untuned percussion. Activities will include movement, body percussion, speech, singing, and instruments. Instrument work will involve techniques of imitation, exploration, improvisation, and creation, towards performance. Kahu team will plan, design, and create instruments and programme them to sound by touch through programming in Scratch and connecting Makey Makey.
