Term 1 2016

For Term One our focus in Music is beat and rhythm.

We connect with our Music learning through movement, dance, speech, and drama. We listen to pieces of music in different styles/genres to discuss the elements of music, our music appreciation, and instrument recognition.

We are using untuned percussion instruments and body percussion to play given beats and rhythms as well as creating our own pieces and improvising sound situations (such as a story accompaniment or representation of something). We are practising recording rhythms using symbols and rhythm names.

We sing simple folk songs to practise our pitch matching and to help us with learning our rhythms, songs in Te Reo Māori and Samoan, and popular songs for the enjoyment of singing together.
