Concert 2017

Thank you to Mrs Trew for 2 videos from the evening.

Dress Rehearsal

Being at the town hall is amazing, students enjoyed looking up at the beautiful lighting and discussing the fabulous organ. Everyone did their best for a long morning on stage, thanks to Mrs Marley for accompanying us.

Rehearsal Four

Our last rehearsal before the dress rehearsal at the Town Hall and our concert. Thank you parents for getting us to Ponsonby again.

Using our best singing voices

Rehearsal Three
We were very lucky to have lovely parents drive us to Ponsonby Intermediate for our first combined rehearsal.

All the schools together

Rehearsal Two
Another great morning at Bayfield School! Thanks to Mrs Marley for being our parent help once again.

Lots of learning at Bayfield School. Thank you Mrs Marley for coming with us.

Choir Practise with a Goat
We are busy preparing for our first rehearsal at Bayfield School, joining Mary Cornish again this year, and today we had an audience of one goat.

2016 Concert
The evening of November 15 was a brilliant celebration of all things musical. Taupaki School appreciated working with Mary, Lynette, Jenny, and Claire. All the performers and the Festival Committee made for a terrific evening. Many thanks for the support Taupaki had from parents, whanau, and staff.

Dress Rehearsal
November 14 was an exciting morning as we left Taupaki at 8am to head to the Auckland Town Hall. Thanks to Mrs Lethbridge for coming with us and preparing the uniforms for the concert.

The beautiful acoustics of the Auckland Town Hall

Our fourth rehearsal
We returned to Ponsonby Intermediate on October 25 for a full run through of the concert programme. Thank you to Mrs Fraser and our fantastic parent drivers who got to school extra early after the long weekend to ensure we all got there on time.

Still working hard...

Our Third Rehearsal
We travelled to Ponsonby Intermediate on August 31 for our first rehearsal with all schools. We sang all the songs we will perform. Dana was selected as a soloist for Shackleton and Claudia and Breanna will represent Taupaki in Tutira Mai. We have a bit of work to do to make sure we don't slip out of some of our harmonies but everyone is working so hard to do their personal best; I think they are amazing. Thanks to Mrs Trew for coming with us and encouraging all our singers and the wonderful parents who provided our extra transport.

Singing all our songs...a great way to spend the morning

Our Second Rehearsal
On July 6 we returned to Bayfield School for our second regional rehearsal. We practised the second half of the songs we will perform; even though it has been a busy term I can tell that choir members have been making an effort to look at these songs outside of our practises. Once again everyone represented Taupaki fantastically. Thank you to Miss Bladen and Rob Gray for coming with us.

One of our singers invited up to share his amazing knowledge of Shackleton

Our First Rehearsal
On May 25 we travelled to Bayfield School to have our first rehearsal with half of the other schools who will sing at the same concert as us. Choir members had a wonderful time as did Mrs Wilmore and I and we were very proud of how well the children represented Taupaki School. Thank you to Rob Gray for being our parent on the trip and for leading a vocal warm-up on the bus!

Getting Started
We will be joining the wonderful Mary Cornish on her concert night this year alongside a lovely group of choir teachers and their choirs. We are looking forward to getting started on the music we have been given in Term 2. In the meantime we have been working on some warm-ups and two songs (Edelweiss and Hine E Hine) to get used to singing together.

At practise today (not quite everyone)
